Local Heroes – World Talents highlights some of the famous characters from the Roma neighbourhood of Topaana in Skopje – the oldest Roma neighbourhood in the Balkans. Each of these people have worked to eliminate the negative stereotypes held about the Roma community.

They include Bajram Severjan – Dr Kolo, Vaska Jankovska, Esma Redzepova Teodosievska, Muharem Serbezovski, Rahim Burhan, Abdi Faik and Zoran Dimov, as well as numerous interviewees, such as Emir Kusturica, Goran Bregovic, Stole Popov and Dancho Cevreski.
