The Macedonian documentary film Honeyland, following its triumph at Sundance, continues its successful journey at film festivals around the world and has already won awards at festivals in Poland, Spain, Georgia and New York.

The latest in a series of festival successes is the award for best international film at the 21st edition of DocAviv, which takes place at the Tel Aviv cinema, Israel.

The film, directed by Ljubomir Stefanov and Tamara Kotevska, won four awards at the Dox Aggressive Gravity Festival in Poland last week. Among other things, the documentary won the Grand prix and a money prize at the festival.

Last weekend the team of “Honeyland” won the main prize at the documentary film festival “Dox Barcelona” in Spain.

Earlier this month, the film opened the Cine Doc in Tbilisi, Georgia, winning a special jury award.

On May 7, the film won the Best Documentary Film of Montclair FF in New York. This recognition is named after the American documentary film director, Bruce Sinofsky.

In addition to “Sine Doc” in Tbilisi, “Honeyland” has opened several other festivals such as: FICMEC in Tenerife (Canary Islands) and “IsReal” in Sardinia.

The film is also screening at the international film festival in Krakow, Poland (KIFF) and the “DokAviv” in Israel. Starting the weekend and during June, the film will be part of the program at: Berkshire International Festival in Massachusetts, USA (June 1) and Sheffield doc/ fest in Sheffield, United Kingdom (June 6 ).

Next stop is New Zealand with screenings on June 2 and 4 at the Doc Edge Festival in Auckland, and in Wellington on June 16 and 18. On June 10 and 15, it will be screened at the International Film Festival in Sydney, Australia.

The film has so far been screened at twenty other festivals in Asia, Europe and the United States. By the end of the summer it is expected to be presented to 20 other world film festivals. At the end of August it will be screened in front of the domestic audience, at the biggest documentary film festival in North Macedonia – “MakeDox”. From September, it enters cinema distribution in our country and in the United States.

“Honeyland” shall be distributed in all major countries of the world: USA, Canada, England, Germany, Austria, Poland, Belgium, Scandinavia, Spain, Turkey, China, South Korea and Australia. All other major movie markets are in negotiations.

On the official website of the film, honeyland.earth lists all upcoming screenings and tours. The donation campaign for the protagonists in the “Honeyland” is also still active.

The film is directed by Ljubomir Stefanov and Tamara Kotevska, producer and editor is Atanas Georgiev, with camera by Fejmi Daut and Samir Ljuma. The music is by Foltin  with Rada Eid from DB Studios from Beirut as a music supervisor. The documentary, produced by Apollo Media and Tris Films, was realized as part of the Nature Conservation Program in North Macedonia – a project of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), coordinated by “Farmaheim”, with North Macedonia Film Agency supporting its postproduction.

The world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 28 was followed by the Asian premiere in March in Hong Kong and the official European premiere – in Nyon, Switzerland, last month.
