“God exists, her name is Petrunya” by Teona Strugar Mitevska continues to conquer the world, the French and Swiss film distribution has resulted in excellent reviews and ratings from the audience in France. The film, which is entering its seventh week of distribution, has been seen by 32,000 viewers and will be screened in 56 cinemas.

During the summer months, the film continues its promotion around the world by gathering new recognitions from selections at prestigious festivals to exclusive screenings and launch of cinema-distribution in many countries. In June, Petrunya travels to seven festivals around the world beginning with a screening in Kino Izola in Slovenia which was followed by a lecture by Danijel Hocevar, co-producer of the film and Monika Lomber, the costume designer who held a master class for  film costume.

From Izola, “God exists, her name is Petrunya” continues its journey to Art Film Festival in Slovakia (14-22 June.)

The film is also scheduled to screen at the prestigious Sydney Film Festival (local Australian Distibutor- Palace) on June 14 and 15 in the exceptional main competition along with the masterpieces of today’s cinematography such as the latest film by Almodovar and this year’s Cannes winner “Parasite”. In addition, Teona will be part of the short film jury at the festival.

On June 29, the film will be screened at Edinburgh Film Festival, followed by the Brussels International Film Festival where it will be screened on June 28 and 29 in the main competition while in July and August the film starts its distribution in Belgium.

In June, Petrunya will be screened at another festival in Germany – Schillertage Mannheim, where the distributor (JIP filmverley) prepares the film distribution in this country for the autumn.

In June, “God exists, her name is Petrunya” will be part of the 21st largest student film festival in the world in Tel Aviv where Teona Strugar Mitevska is invited to hold a master class to film students in Israel and, in her honor, they will screen a retrospective of her films, announcing her as “an avant-garde filmmaker and a central figure in the upcoming post-Yugoslav new wave”. Among other film actors who held master classes at this festival in the past are Tarantino, Haneke, the Dardenne brothers and Almodovar.
