16th Edition of Skopje Film Festival

The feature-lenght film “Circles” by Srdjan Dragojevic marked the start of the 16th edition of Skopje Film Festival, which runs April 19-27. The director of the film also attended the festival opening as a special guest star.

The festival program is divided into three sections featuring a selection of the very best 2012 films. Some of the works to be presented include Gus Van Sant’s “Promised Land”, Wes Anderson’s “Moonrise Kingdom”, the British black comedy “Seven Psychopaths”  by Martin McDonagh, Pedro Almodovar’s “I’m so Excited” , Roger Michael’s biographical historical drama “Hyde Park on Hudson” and many others.

Three Macedonian shorts also joined the festival program: Izer Aliu’s “To Guard a Mountain”,  Goran Тrenchovski’s “Play and Save” and the animation “Round Trip” by Zharko Ivanov, which also doubled as the film’s premiere. The films are all supported by the Macedonian Film Fund.

The screenings of the films are set to take place at two locations: Cinema Millennium and Cinema Ramstore-Skopje, with admission fee chared for each screening excluding the screening of the Macedonian films.

The festival will close with the film “Betrayal”, directed by Kiril Srebrenikov and starring the Macedonian actor Dejan Lilik, which had its premiere at the 2012 Venice Film festival.
