The ninth edition of the International Short Film Festival “Asterfest” opened on Saturday, June 1 in Strumica, Macedonia and runs until June 5 under the motto “Behind the Ninth Screen”.
The filmgoers will have the chance to enjoy selection of more than 50 films from the international production divided into three competitive programs: Global Fiction, Star Documents and Animotion, featuring also the following Macedonian films: “Macedonians in Istanbul” by Elizabeta Koneska, “To Guard a Mountain”- a Macedonian/Norwegian coproduction directed by Izer Aliu and Zharko Ivanov’s animation “Round Trip”.
The opening ceremony paid special tributes to this year’s festival Laureates: Slovenian director Karpo Godina, born in Skopje, presented with the Aster Award for High achievements in auteur film and Dr. Lars Henrik Gass, director of the International Short Film festival Oberhausen, presented with the Honorary Award for High achievements in film arts.
The festival is held under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture and Strumica City Council.
