The city of Strumica will once again be the host of this year’s 8th edition of the International Short Film Festival – ASTERFEST, which starts today and will last until May 29, under the motto Odyssey 2012. The opening ceremony will be held tonight, 19.30h, at the Cultural Center”Anton Panov”.
The festival offers a rich five-day program featuring around fifty short fiction films, creative documentaries and animation films. The latest addition to the festival is the introduction of the Best Screenplay Award “Gorgi Abadjiev”, while the spotlight of this year’s Movieland program will fall on contemporary Russian cinema. A workshop on film script writing is also to be launched within the framework of the festival.
The renowned director Vladimir Blazevski and the internationally acclaimed actor Slavko Stimac, will be the recipients of this year’s Honorary Award, in recognition of their outstanding and exceptional contribution to the art of cinema. The festival will pay tribute to their work by hosting a screening of “Buick Riviera” (starring Slavko Stimac) and “Punk’s Not Dead” (directed by Vladimir Blazevski).
