The 22. Edition of Sarajevo Film Festival, which runs August 12-20, Macedonia will is presented with four films supported by the Macedonian Film Agency.
“The Girl Who Falls”, a debut animation directed by Vladimir Lukash and produced by FlipBook, will be screened as part of the short film competition. The animation is by Zharko Ivanov and Vladimir Lukash, screenplay by Ivan Shopov, editing by Krste Gospodinovski, and sound by Milan Simovski.
Third year in a row, in the Avant premieres programme, the festival offers the audience an insight into the newest cinematographic production from the region. This year’s programme includes the Macedonian/Croatian/Finnish co-production “The Liberation of Skopje” directed by Rade Sherbedzija (and Danilo Sherbedzija). The film is co-written by Dushan Jovanovic and Rade Sherbedzija, with Dejan Dimeski as director of photography and music by Vlatko Stefanovski and Tuomas Kantelinen. The principal cast includes Rade Sherbedzija, silvija Stojanovska, Lucija Sherbedzija, David Todosovski, Nebojsa Glogovac.
The programme In Focus will screen two minority co-productions supported by the Macedonian Film Agency: Nightlife by Damjan Kozole (Slovenian/Macedonian/Bosnian co-production) and “Sieranevada” by Cristi Puiu (Romanian/French/Macedonian/Bosnian/Croatian co-production) which has also received support by Eurimages.
Macedonian Film Agency CEO part of the jury at CineLink Industry Days co-production market
The Macedonian Film Agency CEO, Ms. Mimi Gjorgoska Ilievska will be present as part of the jury at this year’s CineLink Industry Daysco-production market (over the period of 17-21.08.2016).
Over the past years CineLink Industry Days has grown into one of the most successful platforms for project development and funding in Europe and a meeting place of film professionals in search of new talents and co-production opportunities. The total fund of CineLink is consists of a scholarship and in cash prizes amongst which: Eurimages Coproduction Development Award – 20.000 EUR, Arte International Relations CineLink award – 6.000 EUR, Macedonian Film Agency CineLink Award – 10.000 EUR EAVE Scholarship. Among the 15 projects submitted to CineLink co-production market and competing for the awards is also Teona S. Mitevska’s feture “God Exists, Her Name is Petrunija”.
“The Secret Ingredient” Selected In the Programme “Work In Progress”
Sarajevo Film Festival announced its selection of projects to be presented within the “Work in Progress” sessions. One of the ten selected projects is Gjorce Stavreski’s directorial feature debut, “The Secret Ingredient”.
The film is produced by Fragment Film and is written and directed by Gjorce Stavreski. The principal cast includes Blagoj Veselinov and Atanas Tanovski, Dejan Dimeski is director of the photography with set design by Simo Branov and music by Branislav Nikolov.
The “Work in Progress” sessions will take place on August 17 and 18 and will offer specially invited representatives and film industry decision makers.
The ten selected projects will be in the run for the awards: the new TRT Award – EUR 30,000 in cash; the Restart Award – in-kind post-production services worth EUR 20,000; and The Post Republic Award – in-kind post-production services worth EUR 50,000.
This year’s edition of the Sarajevo Talent Campus takes place August 14-20, 2016. The programme was launched in 2007 by the Sarajevo Film Festival and in cooperation with Berlin International Film Festival and Berlinale Talent Campus. The programme is open to young film professionals from South-East Europe and Southern Caucasus.
This year’s Macedonian representative at Talents Sarajevo is actress Sara Klimoska. The participants will be offered an exciting program filled with lectures, panel discussions, and active debates, complemented with workshops, practical exercises and film screenings.
The Macedonian Film Agency will also promote its activity through booked ads in Cinelink Magazine и Cinelink Project Book.
