Macedonian Film Agency At Cannes Film Festival 2016


The Macedonian Film Agency is once again present at  Cannes Film Festival, this year in the official lineup with the film project “Sieranevada” directed by Cristi Puiu, which had its premiere on May 12 at 3:30 pm in the hall LumiereA press conference was held prior to the film’s premiere, at 12 pm, which was attended by part of the Macedonian crew. Following the premiere, the co-producing countries have organized a cocktail party in one of Cannes’ most exclusive clubs – Silencio.

Aside from the official premiere, on May 11th the film had two screenings for the media,  at 7 pm and 9 pm respectively, and a screening on May 13th at 1:45 pm, which was open for the wider public as well as 3 screenings at the Film Market (Marche du Film) scheduled for May 13th, 16th and 18th.

“Sieranevada” is a film project in which Macedonia participates as a minority co-production alongside Romania, France, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Macedonian co-producer is Labina Mitevska (Sisters and Brother Mitevski).

In the interest of promoting this significant success, the Macedonian Film Agency and the production company Sisters and Brother Mitevski have booked ad space in the prestigious magazines Variety (May 12) and Screen International (May 13).

Traditionally, the Macedonian Film Agency is present with a stand located within the South Eastern Europe pavilion (SEE pavilion) with screenings at the Film Market, therefore promoting the Macedonian cinematography with the latest film production, Macedonian film festivals and other film industry projects, the possibilities the country has to offer in the field of co-production as well as promoting the country as a shooting location aiming to attract foreign productions with the right to refund of 20% of the invested funds.

Оn May 16th at 10:00 pm at PALAIS E the Cannes Film Market hosted a screening of the film “AMOK” by Vardan Tozija, in organization of the sales agent REEl SUSPECTS.
