Macedonian Films At Film Festival In Romania


Five Macedonian films will have the chance to join the selection of very recent cinematic output of the Balkan region (Bulgaria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Albania, Romania, and Turkey) at this year’s 3rd edition of the film and culinary art lovers’ festival which will take place in the period between August 19- 26 on the Romanian shore of the river Danube, under the name of Divan Film Festival.

Vladimir Blazevski’s award-winning film “Punk’s Not Dead” alongside the shorts “Glow” by Tomislav Aleksov, “Sarah, the Myth” by Sasa Stanisic, Igor Aleksov’s “Bit Player” and “Face” by director Stefan Sidovski  will all take part of the eight-day program, featuring day and night projections of the films on a special screen located outdoors. The theme of this year’s festival and accompanying symposium is ‘Escape from the Balkans’ offering the participants a chance to explore and sample the different cinemas and culinary traditions of this rich intercultural area.

The festival’s special guest star is Russian film director and president of the Mosfilm Studios, Mr. Karen Shakhnazarov, who will present his film “The White Tiger” in a world premiere.
