Feature film “Requiem for Mrs. J.” directed by Bojan Vuletic, which had its World premiere at the 67th Berlinale, will be shown at the 45th International Film Festival FEST in Serbia.
Conceived as an annual cross-section of the best films from last year’s world production, FEST Belgrade became one of the most important film festivals and has become a significant event in the cultural life of Belgrade, which grew many young generations.
The festival takes place from 24 February to 5 March and the film “Requiem for Mr. J”will be shown within the program Serbian Film on 4 March 4 at Sava Center in 19.00h, 5 March at Sava Center in 13.30h, 5 March in Fontana at 21.00h and 7 March at the Cultural Center Vlada Divljan in 19.30h.
After FEST, “Requiem for Mrs. J” will be screened at 21st International Film Festival in Sofia, held from 9 to 19 March. What started as a thematic music film festival, went through 20 previous editions, to become a film event of the year that brings current trends of world cinema to its audiences. It is counted among the top 50 film festivals according to Variety. The film will be screened in the main competition program, with screenings scheduled for 14 March in the House of Cinema at 18.30h and on 15 March at 16:30h.
“Requiem for Mrs. J”talks about current and universal subject, that emerges from the overall financial and emotional crisis that reigns in the world, mostly in poor countries. The story follows the lives of four women belonging to different generations: mother, her two daughters and her mother in law. The main character, Mrs. J, after running out of work and retirement, tries to find a way to secure materially her family. The older daughter is a secretly pregnant, younger daughter enters in stormy puberty and mother-in-law is silent and did not communicate with anyone. In a different way, through black humor, this film tries to talk about serious issues of life in transition.
Film is written and directed by Bojan Vuletic, director of photography is Jelena Stankovic, Set designer is Zorana Petrov, costume designer is Lana Pavlovic, makeup artist is Jasmina Lilic and editor is Vladimir Pavlovski. The cast includes: Mirjana Karanovic, Danica Nedelkovic Mira Banjac, Jovana Gavrilovic, Srdjan Todorovic and others. Producer of the film is Nenad Dukic – SEE Film Pro (Serbia) and co-producers are by Pavlina Zheleva for Geopoly Film (Bulgaria), Tomi Salkovski for Skopje Film Studio (Macedonia), Alexander Rodnjanski (Russia) and Alice Ormieres for Surprise Alley (France).
