Another great success of Macedonian cinematography.
The new film by Teona Strugar Mitevska, “The Happiest Man in the World” by Elma Tataragic and Teona Strugar Mitevska will be presented in the highly acclaimed Atelier project at the Cannes Film Festival.
This is the first time for Macedonia to have its own project on this most prestigious program. Yesterday, the Cannes Film Festival press office announced that 15 film projects from around the world were selected for this year’s program.
The sophisticated selection represents a cross-section of young authors and already established film artists that Khan believes in. The projects, together with authors and producers, will be presented to a large number of co-producers, distributors, sales agents, festivals and film professionals interested in collaborating.
Atelier is absolutely one of the most prestigious platforms for presenting new scripts to authors.
This success follows the Cinelink Market at the Sarajevo Film Festival, where Teona Strugar Mitevska, with the same project, won the first Eurimage project development prize of 20,000 euros. Finally, Khan’s interest is compounded by the overwhelming interest that Teona’s previous film “The Lord Has Her Name Is Petronia” enjoyed in the preparatory phase with the participation of the Paris co-market, the Venetian Gap Market and also the victory of Sarajevo and Sinelli the subsequent incredibly successful distribution and festival successes of this film.
“Sisters and Brother Mitevski” continue to enjoy worldwide success with their projects. “God exists, his name is Petrunia”, won his 34th award, celebrated his 100th festival, critics in many countries praised the qualities of the film and began distributing it in Japan, America, Slovenia in April. The film is distributed in 40 countries around the world.
At the recently concluded Berlin Film Festival, the new co-production of Sisters and Brother Mitevski, “Malmkrog” by Romanian cinematography major Christie Puiu, won the directing award in the new “Encounters” program.
Malmcrog is a minority co-production supported by the Film Agency of the Republic of Northern Macedonia.
