The 10th Asterfest Under The Motto “New and Old”

The Macedonian actress Ljupka Dzundeva is one of the laureates of the jubilee 10th edition of the International Film Festival “AsterFest” in Strumica. She is this year’s winner of the honorary award of Asterfest and the Tiberiopolian Film Alliance for special contribution to the performing and film arts. Dzundeva had impressive roles in an array of Macedonian feature and short films as well as TV series and dramas. She was born in 1934 in Skopje, and her acting career began with the first Macedonian feature film and still lasts today actively. The award will be officially presented to Dzundeva at the festival that will be held from 27 to 31 May this year.
The other laureate, the winner of the international “Aster” award, will be announced at a special media press in Strumica.
“Asterfest” is an International Film Festival, established in 2005. The festival continuously promotes selected competition in the categories of short films, creative documentary and animated films.

The festival motto of this year’s anniversary of “AsterFest” is “New and old”.

During the entire year, on behalf of the one-decade anniversary, the Tiberiopolian Film Alliance in cooperation with various entities, shall organize many activities in Strumica, around the country and abroad. Some of the upcoming program activities include the following: film evenings with the film authors Branko Stavrev and Zelimir Gvardiol; premiere of a short film by Ice Viranov; promotion of the edition “Slovenski Orfej” (“Slavic Orpheus”); publishing a monograph on the “AsterFest” brand; a retrospective of the award-winning and thematic film cycles; creative and educational workshops; portraits; exhibitions, etc.
The poster designer is Rozita Volkovich from Strumica, living in the United States.
In honour of the laureate Ljupka Dzundeva, the film “Mirno leto” (“Quiet Summer”) by Dimitrie Osmanli will be screened on 24 January (Friday) at NUCK “Anton Panov” in Strumica.
This year’s “AsterFest” is financed by the Ministry of Culture of Macedonia, the Municipality of Strumica and the EU Delegation, and it is supported by several embassies and other institutions as well. The Cinematheque of Macedonia remains a traditional partner of “Asterfest”.
