The feature film “Lazar” directed by Svetozar Ristovski will have its U.S. premiere at the prestigious Santa Barbara International Film Festival which is to take place February 3-13, 2016 in USA.
The film will be screened on February 8 within the “NOIR” section, an international selection of neo-noirs filled with gritty underworlds, criminals, femme fatales and moral nihilists.
The film is a Macedonian (Small Moves Production)/Bulgarian/Croatian and French co-production and is supported by the Macedonian Film Agency with a majority film support. The project has also received support by the European film fund “Eurimages”.
The film is a story of Lazar, who is disaffected and emotionally disconnected from the world around him. When his father left the family, he had to grow up to be resourceful and tough, and now in his mid twenties, he is involved in a smuggling ring of illegal aliens. His worldview starts to change when he falls in love with Katerina, an architecture student, who he randomly meets…
The cast includes the Croatian actor Vedran Zivolic and Macedonian actress Natasha Petrovic in the main roles of Lazar and Katerina, alongside Goran Navojec, Dejan Lilic, Vlado Jovanovski, Toni Mihajlovski, Krasimira Kuzmanova, Aleksandar Sano and Aleksandra Balzamovic. The film is written by Svetozar Ristovski and Grace Lea Troje with Dejan Dimeski as cinematographer.
