The project “The North Pole” by Macedonian director Marija Apcevska has been awarded in the European Short Pitch – Nisi Masa, within Festival International du Film d’ Aubagne. “The North Pole” was one of the three awarded projects on the 13th session which took place in Brest, France.
The program European Short Pitch – Nisi Masa is a prestigious event which aims to initiate European co-productions, to develop and create internationally recognized films.
The event consists of three parts: a script development workshop, an online session and a co-production forum which gathers together directors, scriptwriters and producers of the selected projects with filmmakers from all across Europe. Besides EU member-states, the right to participle have the fallowing countries: North Macedonia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Island, Georgia, Moldavia, Montenegro, Norway, Serbia and Ukraine. Out of the total number of submitted projects, the members of Nisi Masa network nominate 40 scripts from which the jury selects only 16 projects for the final round. The resident workshop for development is under the mentorship of established and awarded scriptwriters, directors and producers, and as a follow up of the workshop there is an online session for further development.
Within the co-production forum, the project “The North Pole” was pitched by scriptwriter Marija Apcevska and producer Robert Naskov from the production company “Kino Oko”.
The experience from previous years shows that huge number of films supported and developed within this workshop were selected at important film festivals such as Cannes, Venice, Berlin etc, which further confirms its significance and quality.
