“Edna”, the latest short animation by Vuk Mitevski, will have its premiere at the prestigious 59th International Krakow Film Festival.

“Edna” will be screened on May 28 and 30 in the main competition for short and animated films and will compete for the Silver Dragon award for best animated film, alongside 9 other animations from around the world.

The Krakow Festival is among the top ten festivals in the world dedicated to animated films, and is among the few that lead to a direct nomination for the American Academy of Film Award “Oscar of Popularity” in the short animation category.

“Edna” is an 11 min. animation, a love story set in very unusual circumstances, narrated in a very abstract and poetic way, and inspired by the refugee crisis that North Macedonia faced as a country of transit. The animation was completely made in manual drawing and it took almost three years for the author to capture that magic.

“EDNA” is a co-production between North Macedonia (“Sisters and Brother Mitevski”) and Belgium, the script is written by Teona Strugar Mitevska, with music by Olivier Samuyo, sound by Emil Klotzz, and editing by Blagoja Nedelkovski and Vanco Mirakovski. The production took place entirely in North Macedonia with sound post-production in Germany, music post-production in France and the laboratory and the mixing were done in Belgium.

Following the previous success with the multiple award-winning animation “Alerik”, this is the fourth animation of Vuk Mitevski.

The film “Edna” is supported by the North Macedonia Film Agency.
